EUROPEAN SYMPOSIUM ON MARINE BIOLOGY(1ST).
Abstract
An account is given of the First European Symposium in Marine Biology, Helgoland, Germany, which was attended by 250 scientists from 24 European countries. Papers were presented during the five day period in three general fields of interest: (1) Experimental Ecology; (2) Subtidal Ecology; and (3) The Food Web in the Sea. The meetings were the occasion for the formation of the European Marine Biological Association and the decision to hold the second and third meetings at Bergen, Norway, and Arcachon, France, respectively.
