REAL TIME DIGITAL PHASE SHIFTERS UTILIZING 4-PORT SINGLE-JUNCTION LATCHING CIRCULATORS.

Abstract

The devices under development are real-time-delay digital phase shifters utilizing 4-port single-junction waveguide latching circulators. Ferrimagnetic material parameters as applied to this program are discussed. A theoretical investigation of the time delay equalization problem is outlined. Phase dispersion measurement techniques which will be used on this program are also discussed. A systematic experimental investigation of the mode excitation model developed in X band and scaled to C band is also described, and empirical data presented. In X band the dielectric ring model is giving best performance. In C band the dielectric-button model is being used. To date, the broadest bandwidth in the desired operating region has been obtained with the C band unit. (Author)
