1 KW KU-BAND PULSED COAXIAL MAGNETRON.

Abstract

This report describes the opening phases of the electrical and mechanical development of a 1 kw Ku-band magnetron. The underlying electrical design principles are fully developed and their use in producing the first electrical test models is clearly vindicated by the extremely close agreement obtained between the calculated and measured tube parameters. The major problems of mechanical fabrication, to the standard of excellence required to ensure optimum electrical performance and life in a device of the compactness and complexity required for this application, are discussed at length. Several methods aimed at achieving the required goals and the steps so far achieved toward their successful attainment are discussed in the report. (Author)
