SILVER-ZINC MISSILE POWER SUPPLY.

Abstract

The trade-off and optimization phase of the Silver-Zinc Missile Power Supply development program was continued. A breadboard version of a high voltage (1500 V) silver-zinc duplex electrode battery was completed and successfully tested. A test summary is presented and the results discussed. Experimental circular duplex electrode batteries were constructed and tested. Data and test results are analyzed. Design guidelines for a 300 Volt, 8500 Watt duplex electrode battery based on the circular cell design concept are summarized. The study phase of the DC to DC converter development program has been completed. A report documenting the work performed by the Ordnance Division of Honeywell Inc. during the preceding quarter is included in the body of the report. Previously compiled data on battery weight and volume were reduced to a form usable in the systems study portion of the converter-battery program. Various battery-converter configurations are outlined and the optimum power supply design is analyzed in the light of the objectives of the program. (Author)
