THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INSULATED THERMIONIC CONVERTER-HEAT PIPE ASSEMBLY.

Abstract

Improvements in heat pipe design were reflected by improved heat pipe performance. Progress was made in obtaining converter performance enhancement by means of oxygen dosing. Insulation geometries have been tested to 1600 Centrigrade at heat fluxes of 60 watts per square centimeter with 50 volts DC applied across the alumina layer. A Module-Heat Pipe, Serial No. M4-4 has been placed on life test. Advanced concepts have been reviewed and evaluated.
