EVALUATION OF HELICOPTER-MOUNTED MOTION PICTURE, HIGH MAGNIFICATION AND TELEVISION CAMERA SYSTEMS.
Abstract
Feasibility of obtaining vibration-free still, motion picture, and television imagery from a helicopter platform was evaluated in the Republic of Vietnam Equipment tested included a 35mm still camera coupled to a Questar telescope, two different movie cameras, and a television system equipped with a zoom lens. All were mounted on a Nelson-Tyler helicopter camera platform that isolated the camera equipment from helicopter vibrations by a unique counterbalance unipod system. Though imagery quality was not consistently good, use of helicopters in acquiring camera system imagery was practical. It is recommended further development and subsequent testing be made. (Author)
