INTERACTION STUDIES OF LASER BEAMS INTERSECTING IN AN ACTIVE MEDIUM.

Abstract

The present program is intended to develop understanding of energy transfer rates and mechanisms in the inhomogeneously broadened emission line of neodymium doped laser glass. In particular, the transition of the neodymium ion at 1.06 microns is being investigated by measuring the energy transfer rate, using a technique in which two laser beams intersect in an optically pumped Nd-doped glass medium.
