HIGH TEMPERATURE MASS SPECTROMETRIC STUDY OF THE NEODYMIUM-CARBON SYSTEM.

Abstract

The gaseous phase in thermodynamic equilibrium with the condensed neodymium-carbon system has been investigated by means of the combined Knudsen cell-mass spectrometric technique in the temperature range 1950 - 2160 K. The gaseous dicarbide molecule NdC2 was identified and its dissociation energy was evaluated by means of the second-law and third-law methods.
