SILVER-ZINC ELECTRODES AND SEPARATOR RESEARCH

Abstract

The use of ZnSo4 in the negative plate mix appears to aid cycle life at 60% depth-of-discharge. Surfactants tested to date other than Emulphogene BC- 610 do no improve cycle life performance at room temperature at 60% depth-of- discharge. Development of failure analysis techniques are progressing through the use of one media, the photomicrograph. A first approach to the estimation of degree of molecular hydration in KOH solutions of battery strength is made, and on this basis, limiting values of hydrated ion sizes are calculated.
