INVESTIGATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF POLYMER SURFACES ON THE TEXTURES OF THE CHOLESTERIC MESOPHASE.

Abstract

Optical properties of some cholesteryl esters, showing liquid crystalline thermotropic behavior, have been studied on polymeric surfaces of different polarity and chemical structure. A high degree of orientation and stability has been observed in the plane texture. The areas and the brightness of the domains are increased in comparison to the samples coated on glass surfaces.
