NITROSO RUBBER EXPULSION BLADDERS FOR NITROGEN TETROXIDE APPLICATION.

Abstract

Techniques for fabrication of carboxy nitroso rubber (CNR) expulsion bladders with and without permeation barriers for nitrogen tetroxide service are under investigation. Mechanical properties have been evaluated and permeability studies are in progress. The fabrication and testing of bladder permeation barrier laminates including electroformed gold and ultrasonically welded aluminum foil is described. Adhesion studies of CNR to metal foil are also discussed. Tooling for the 12-1/2 in. diameter spherical bladder has been completed. Engineering design of tooling and standpipes for the 12-1/2 in. diameter elongated bladder (APS) has also been completed. (Author)
