APPLICATIONS OF A FRAME DIFFERENCE GENERATOR.

Abstract

A device called a Frame Difference Generator has been developed for studies of the temporal redundancy between television frames. The frame difference generator provides a dynamic signal which is proportional to the element-by-element brightness difference of sequentially scanned frames. Besides its applications as a component in a television bandwidth reduction system, the frame difference generator can be used in motion detection, sentry application and radar signal processing applications. For sentry use the image from a scanning sensor is processed by the frame difference generator, and any object motion within the image field is detected. In radar systems the frame difference generator may replace a moving target indicator tube with an improvement in resolution and sensitivity. (Author)
