STORABLE CONCENTRATED HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

Abstract

Investigation of means for reducing the rate of decomposition of concentrated hydrogen peroxide (HP) by removing the catalytic elements carried in the HP and by reducing the catalytic activity of various materials of construction for use as containers has continued. A flash distillation unit has been constructed in order to prepare some 5-gal storage samples of HP purified by additional distillation. Samples of HP-98 prepared by distillation at low pressure and temperature will be prepared for storage. Samples of HP-90 will be distilled also and tested by the accelerated test. An ion exchange bed support unit has been designed and constructed and will be assembled with a feed pump in order to prepare other storage samples of HP-98. Additional storage samples have been placed in constant temperature baths. Included are two in tin-plated vessels to again test the activity of tin plated from a stannous sulfate- sulfamic acid bath.
