ABSORPTION AND TRANSMISSION OF ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVES. PHASE III: INHOMOGENEOUS FOIL ABSORBERS WITH DIELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC LOSSES.

Abstract

An experimental method of realising an inhomogeneous transmission line for electromagnetic waves by sets of foils arranged one upon the other is described. There are two or three basic types of foils; one is lossless while the other contains lossy material. Inhomogeneous transmission line sections are obtained by constructing a set of foils of lossless and lossy foils alternately. The number of lossy foils can be varied from one set to the other in accordance with a given function. The measurements are made in a rectangular waveguide at some 4 GHz. (Author)
