The control or abatement of smoke in the exhaust of gas turbine engines is becoming of great importance. This report is an effort to recap test results, procedures, measurements, and general philosophies as gained by discussions with combustion engineers and experts in the United Kingdom. Combustion chamber theory and design, fuel characteristics, use of water injection and smoke measurement techniques are briefly covered. (Author)
