CLIMATOLOGY AND LOW-LEVEL AIR POLLUTION POTENTIAL FROM SHIPS IN SELECTED NEW ENGLAND PORTS,

Abstract

This report investigates the meteorological effect upon a polluting material released into the atmosphere, within five New England Harbors. These are: Bath, Maine; Portsmouth, New Hampshire; Boston, Massachusetts; Newport, Rhode Island; and New London, Connecticut. A brief discussion of basic concepts in air pollution meteorology is followed by a general estimate of the diffusion climate and the pollution potential of the five harbors. (Author)
