'HOLLOW WHISKERS': FORMATION FROM METALS BY REACTION WITH FERRICYANIDE AND FERROCYANIDE,

Abstract

Hollow whiskers or tubules and spherical structures are produced in solution from metals whose ions form an insoluble complex with ferricyanide or ferrocyanide if the solution is acidic or the metal is made anodic by an impressed potential. The diameter and shape of the bio-like structures are dependent upon the concentration of ferricyanide or ferrocyanide. (Author)
