A FIELD-ASSEMBLED, WATER-PROOF CONNECTOR FOR IN-SITU OCEANOGRAPHIC INSTRUMENTATION.

Abstract

In-situ measurements of certain radioisotopes present in the marine environment have been conducted by NOL and NAVOCEANO personnel using gamma spectrometry techniques with a submersible probe. Leakage into the probe has often occurred when the probe was lowered to depths of 1000 feet or more. A connector which prevents this leakage has been tested successfully and is described in this report. (Author)
