ELASTIC DEFLECTIONS OF A CANTILEVER PLATE LOADED BY A CONCENTRATED FORCE AT A GENERAL POINT (PRUZNE PRUHYBY KONSOLOVE DESKY ZATIZENE OSAMELOU V OBECNEM BODE).

Abstract

The determination is made of elastic deflections of a thin cantilever plate in the form of an infinite flat strip, loaded at a common point by a force perpendicular to the central plane of the strip. The first part of the article considers the deflection of a strip with a constant thickness. The exact solution, based on the theory of thin plates is obtained in a new manner using the principle of superposition. The detailed numerical results then make possible the evaluation of the subsequent 'energetic' solution of a strip with a variable cross-section. This is obtained by a combination of two known variational methods. The general results are applied to two numerical examples: the deflection of a strip with a constant thickness (these show a satisfactory agreement with the exact solution), and that of a strip with a trapezoidal cross-section. The experimental verification of these theoretical results was also obtained.
