RAY PATH IN A LINEARLY MOVING INHOMOGENEOUS LAYERED OCEAN MODEL,

Abstract

When the speed of sound is constant and velocity of the medium is varying linearly with depth, the ray path can be described by an arc of a circle. If the speed of sound is decreasing linearly with depth, and the medium is moving with a constant velocity, the ray path can also be approximated as an arc of a circle. If both the speed of sound and velocity of the medium do not vary with depth, the ray path is a straight line.
