CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ELASTOHYDROSTATIC GAS LUBRICATED AXISYMMETRIC THRUST BEARING,

Abstract

This report presents the steady state analysis of and results obtained for the axisymmetric gas lubricated thrust bearing with one bonded compliant surface. The analysis represents an extension to compressible lubricants of the initial work for the incompressible case done by Castelli, Rightmire and Fuller. The bearing is investigated under varying conditions of recess pressure, preset clearance vs load carrying capacity and flow rate for materials of Poisson's ratio equal to 0.5 and 0.45. (Author)
