RIFT VALLEY FEVER VIRUS IN SUSPENDED CULTURE,

Abstract

Four phases of growth of Rift Valley fever virus in suspended culture can be distinguished: (1) an initial lag phase of about 4 hours; (2) a phase of accelerated virus growth, with virus titer reaching a peak by 16 hours; (3) a phase of stationary virus titer lasting through the 31st hour; and (4) a decrease in virus titer. Viable cell counts of infected cultures decreased sharply; those of the uninfected control doubled by the 48th hour. (Author)
