MONOPULSE SCALAR FEED TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

Scalar feed patterns using the fields computed from the modified 075-5 program were calculated. Five modes were found to be adequate to describe the field. The calculated patterns were generally broader than measured patterns. Program 075-7 now being checked out should give more accurate calculated radiation patters. A numerical calculation was made of the radiated field from a two-dimensional model of the scalar feed excited by dipole sources. The results using two boundary conditions, one the actual metallic surface of the grooves and the other an impedance boundary condition on a plane connecting the tops of the ridges, were in good agreement.
