TACAN ANTENNA TECHNIQUES.

Abstract

This interim report describes the first six months of effort in the study of a feed network for an electronically-scanned TACAN ground antenna. The study is restricted to the azimuth-plane power-distribution network feeding a ring array and to the modulation of this array to produce the desired azimuth-plane radiation patterns. It is recognized that the vertical and azimuth patterns are inseparable, and the vertical patterns are considered in this study. However, no development effort is to be expended on the vertical array according to the terms of the contract. This study consists of a theoretical analysis as well as the design and fabrication of a breadboard feed network and ring array. (Author)
