BROADBAND HIGH BURNOUT SOLID STATE INTEGRATED X-BAND LIMITER AND BALANCED MIXER.

Abstract

A broadband integrated Schottky diode balanced mixer and varactor limiter is being investigated. Work is proceeding to improve the bandwidth and noise figure of the integrated mixer and the loss and power-handling characteristics of the limiter so when both are integrated in a single circuit they will be capable of withstanding peak powers of 500 watts and have a noise figure of 7.5 db with a 1.5 db IF. The bandwidth of a limiter mixer will be 4 to 11 GHz. The CW power handling rating shall be 5 watts. A computer analysis of the limiter circuit has been completed and an initial model built due to the specifications. The bandwidth problem of the mixer is also being investigated. (Author)
