CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT FOR HANDLING HEAVY LOADS IN THE OCEAN.

Abstract

The objectives of this note are: (1) To summarize and conveniently display information concerning demands and requirements placed on key pieces of equipment employed in lowering and raising heavy loads in the deep ocean; (2) to evaluate such information and make recommendations for research and development. The long range goal of these efforts is that of increasing the Navy's capability to erect and maintain large, heavy and complicated structures in the deepest depths of the world's oceans.
