REVIEW OF RECENT DEVELOPMENTS. TITANIUM AND TITANIUM ALLOYS,

Abstract

The annual review of the market for titanium mill products has shown a substantial increase of 1966 shipments over those of 1965. Further, the projected growth in shipments to 1970, based on the published numbers (since 1958) and the predicted tonnage for 1967, represents remarkable progress. This history and predicted growth are depicted. Since the use of titanium and its alloys in the past, now, and in the future is largely in the aerospace industry, the growth phenomenon reflects the quickening pace of the jet age and advances in this mode of transportation. Much of the advancement in high-speed flight is dependent on the advancement of titanium technology. Hopefully, the continued demand by the aerospace industry for a superior product will be met by the titanium industry.
