A STUDY OF MICROAMMETERS FOR RADIACMETERS IM-174.

Abstract

Due to the unsatisfactory performance of Radiacmeter IM-174, a requirement was developed for the establishment of an indicating meter design capable of meeting the requirements of the end equipment. This report describes a program of investigations involving two specific 50-microampere, 3-1/2-inch, ruggedized instrument designs for possible use with Radiacmeter IM-174/PD(IM-108). The study was conducted to evaluate the long term stability, accuracy, and environmental characteristics in terms of the field usage conditions to which the instruments would be exposed in radiac applications. The experimental program is described, the observed results discussed, and recommendations offered to permit cognizant equipment personnel to make decisions concerning the possible use of the indicating meter designs in the radiacmeter.
