INFRARED SPECTRA OF HOH, DOD, AND HOD IN NON-POLAR SOLVENTS.

Abstract

The infrared vibrational spectra of HOD and DOD disolved in carbon tetrachloride and carbon disulfide were obtained and compared with the same spectra of HOH. The spectra of these three water species were compared to those of the vapors and the similarities noted. The bending mode of DOD in carbon disulfide was observed. Temperature effects on the spectra were also studied. To analyze the data a simple theoretical vibrational treatment was used providing a computation readily adaptable to digital computers. (Author)
