MULTIPLEXING GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS FOR INTERIOR AVIONICS SYSTEMS.

Abstract

This report consist of two separate and complete volumes, a Final Report and a Handbook. The Final Report describes the tasks undertaken and the approaches as well as the results of studies of the application of communications standards, and telemetry standards and a study of the applicability of multiplexing to selected aircraft avionics systems. The Handbook provides guidelines and standards which can be used establish design techniques for the use of multiplexing for interior avionics systems communication requirements. The Handbook presents: (1) General multiplex system requirements; (2) Basic multiplexing standards; (3) Parameters concerned with the selection of particular multiplex systems and describes sample approaches; (4) Information useful in performing performance and cost-effectiveness trade-off studies; (5) Review of current CATV distribution practices. In addition an appendix to the Handbook provides a tutorial analysis of many types of multiplex systems as a ready source of material for the Handbook user. (Author)
