RADIOISOTOPE THERMIONIC GENERATOR RESEARCH.
Abstract
This report covers the effort applied during the three months of the subject contract which is directed towards the integration of thermionic converters and other electrical accessories into a radioisotope generator system. During the third report period, the complete power conditioner was tested out satisfactorily using a DC power supply to simulate its normal module power source. In experimental testing, the temperature profile of the interconnecting lead showed good agreement with predicted values. The redesigned thermionic module-heat pipe assemblies have been fabricated and processed and both of the two assemblies have received initial testing. Fabrication of the feedthrough components is complete and the unit is currently being assembled. (Author)
