TECHNIQUES FOR EVALUATING OPERATOR LOADING IN MAN-MACHINE SYSTEMS. FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS INTO REAL TIME OPERATOR OVERLOADING ASSESSMENT.

Abstract

Data from two independent studies yielded consistent, meaningful open and closed-loop response patterns, on the basis of a frequency analysis, as time on a compensatory tracking task increased. The results were interpreted to suggest that the spectral analytic technique possesses considerable potential as an objective, behavioral, diagnostic method for on-line assessment of operator status in man-machine systems involving perceptual-motor behavior.
