ENGINEER DESIGN TEST OF CARTRIDGE, 40-MM, SMOKE, POSITION MARKER (SAFETY RELEASE).

Abstract

Engineer design and safety tests of the 40-mm position marker (PM-2, LWL Task 01-F-66) was conducted at Aberdeen Proving Ground from 28 November 1966 to 27 February 1967. The purpose of the test was to provide development and safety-release data on the initial prototypes of the 40-mm position marker launched from a 40-mm M79 grenade launcher. After subjecting the test item to environmental and firing tests, the results show that the markers are safe to handle, store, and shoulder-fire.
