CIRCUS, A DIGITAL COMPUTER PROGRAM FOR TRANSIENT ANALYSIS OF ELECTRONIC CIRCUITS--PROGRAM MANUAL. VOLUME II.

Abstract

CIRCUS is a digital computer program which simulates the time domain response of an electronic circuit to an arbitrary forcing function. Although it is coded in FORTRAN IV for an IBM 7094 computer using the IBSYS Version 13 monitor system, the code was converted for use on several other computers. CIRCUS uses a charge-control parameter model to represent each semiconductor device. When given the primary photocurrent induced in the semiconductor devices, the transient behavior of a circuit in a radiation environment can be determined. The results from CIRCUS was satisfactorily compared with those from physical circuits, both in the laboratory and in intense radiation environments. The Program Manual presents the theoretical foundation for CIRCUS and describes the computer code in some detail. Macroscopic and detailed flow charts, a description of major subprograms, and a listing of program variables are included. A basic knowledge of FORTRAN will be helpful in understanding some sections of this report. (Author)
