EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF A 50 KVA LABORATORY MODEL SUPERCONDUCTING GENERATOR.

Abstract

The objective of this program is to experimentally determine the operating characteristics of the 50 kva laboratory model superconducting generator which was investigated and fabricated under previous contracts. The tests will include steady-state balanced and unbalanced loads, transient-response, non-sinusoidal loads, pulsating torque from the primer mover, and quenching effects due to overcurrent, high flux density, temperature rise and vibrations. This report covers the work during the first quarter. The designs of load banks and control panels for the balanced three-phase loads and the unbalanced three-phase loads were completed. The panel layout of the control panels for the balanced three-phase loads and unbalanced three-phase loads were completed and fabrication is underway.
