TERRAIN ANALYSIS AND RELATED STUDIES OF SOUTHEAST ASIA. APPENDIX III. PHOTOGRAPHIC SUPPLEMENT,
Abstract
This supplemental report contains a series of sixty-one aerial photographs which serve to illustrate the material contained in the text (AD 380 464). The photographs are arranged in three sections corresponding to the order followed in the written report. The first section, containing thirty photographs, is concerned with the physiographic provinces of the study area. They are of relatively small scale, ranging from 1:40,000 to 1:60,000. Most of this group are accompanied by annotated overlays. On the overlays, natural drainage and canals are shown as light solid lines, transportation routes are shown as light dashed lines, and landform boundaries are shown as heavy solid lines. The second section, containing twenty-two photographs, illustrates individual examples of the more flatlying terrain features of the area, including delta plains, alluvial plains, coastal plains and plateaus. These photos are of relatively large scale, ranging from 1:8,000 to 1:15,000. Inasmuch as the areas shown are limited in extent, overlays serve little purpose and are omitted for this group. The third section contains examples from eight of the nine areas in the United States selected as being analogous to portions of Southeast Asia. The scale of all is 1:20,000. Again, overlays are not provided.
