NITROSO RUBBER EXPULSION BLADDERS FOR NITROGEN TETROXIDE APPLICATION.
Abstract
Techniques for fabrication of carboxy nitroso rubber (CNR) expulsion bladders with and without permeation barriers for nitrogen tetroxide service are under investigation. Mechanical properties have been evaluated and permeability studies are in progress. The investigation of gold foil/CNR adhesion for impermeable bladders is discussed. The fabrication of 12-1/2 in. diameter all-CNR bladders and CNR bladders containing electroformed gold liners is described. Testing of 12-1/2 in. diameter spherical all-CNR bladders has been initiated. CNR bladders tested to date show multicycle expulsion capability at ambient room temperature and 15 F. Tooling for fabrication and testing of 12-1/2 in. diameter elongated bladders is nearing completion. (Author)
