UNSTABLE INTERMEDIATES AT LOW TEMPERATURES.
Abstract
A number of chemical and physical systems have been examined at low temperatures in an effort to isolate and identify reactive metastable intermediates. The experimental conditions necessary impose stringent conditions on the reactions that are examined, and as a result, a good fraction of the early experiments led to negative results, although positive results have been also obtained. This screening has led to a number of promising reactions that should be followed up. (Author)
