THE DEVELOPMENT OF PHOTO-TAPE MANUFACTURING METHODS.
Abstract
This is the final report on the development of manufacturing methods, processes, equipment, and techniques for the quantity production of Photo-Tape, a high-quality, flexible, reuseable, photosensitive film. In the course of the program, a facility for quantity production of high-quality Photo-Tape was designed and constructed, and the capability of this facility was demonstrated through the production of a sample quantity of tape. Photoconductive Photo-Tape, which is a medium used for electrostatic recording and storage of optical images, consists of a Cronar film base on which a thin, semitransparent, electrically conducting layer, a barrier layer, a photoconductor layer, and an insulating layer have been formed. The edges of the conducting layer are reinforced by thicker cross-sections of the conducting layer (contact shoulder). This contact shoulder provides the electrical connection between the conducting layer and an external target-voltage supply.
