SURVEY OF CERAMIC FIBERS AND FIBROUS COMPOSITE MATERIALS.

Abstract

Recent emphasis in this country and abroad has been placed on the research and development of these materials, especially on the stiffer, lightweight, more refractory filaments. Therefore, this survey, which is an extension of a previous one on ceramic and graphite whiskers and fibers, was undertaken to compile the most recent research and development data in these technologies. This report summarizes the findings and presents information regarding the processing, the properties, and the applications of fibers and fiber composite materials.
