MINIATURE CRYSTALS FOR SSB APPLICATIONS IN COLDWELD ENCLOSURES AND CRYSTAL UNITS WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE BONDING.

Abstract

The design of 5 mc fundamental resonators with a diameter of 0.275 inch, a minimum Q of 2000000, and maximum frequency deviation between -40 C and the upper turning point of tar- 3 ppm is discussed. Preliminary steps toward a coldwelded enclosure of the same external dimensions as the HC-18/U are described; and areas being explored to produce a bond capable of withstanding bake-out temperatures in the neighborhood of 500 C are listed.
