ENERGY SPECTRUM OF INNER ZONE PROTONS.

Abstract

A summary of the early measurements of the proton spectra in the inner radiation zone is presented. A brief discussion is then given of the theoretical calculations which have been made to explain the measured proton spectra. Some recent data are presented in which proton spectra were measured over a wide range of B-L space from satellites and the experimentally measured spectra are compared with the theoretical calculations. Several conclusions are drawn about the source and loss mechanisms for protons in the inner radiation zone. (Author)
