SUPPLY CATEGORIES UNDER A FUNCTIONALIZED SUPPLY SYSTEM.
Abstract
The study presents a supply categorization derived from the item behavior patterns in the theater supply system. This categorization is compatible with the supply groupings of other elements of the Armed Forces, potential major allies, and the organizations for supply management now existing in the theaters. The derived categories may be used as a basis for supply management at all echelons of the supply system and should assure compatible organizational interfacings between echelons. These categories are proposed to replace the former technical-service structure for functionalized supply management and to serve as a basis for management organization in the Army in the Field.
