HANDBOOK FOR PLANNING FILE CONVERSION.

Abstract

This is a handbook for planning the conversion of manual alphanumeric files to machinable media. This handbook describes methods for selecting the best file conversion method (e. g., keypunch and verify, optical character reading) from a cost-effectiveness viewpoint. In addition, the handbook describes ways to predict cost, required calendar time, and resultant accuracy of file conversion, and gives detailed steps necessary during setup and execution of a file conversion task. It contains detailed instructions for performing analyses of files, planning quality control, and performing cost analysis. (Author)
