HIGH PERFORMANCE FUEL CELL.

Abstract

The objective of this contract is to develop the technology required for a High Performance Fuel Cell power system for future Air Force manned space vehicles. Key technology requirements are improved cell performance, lighter weight hardware, minimum parasitic power, and high system reliability. Technical work during this reporting period was limited due to a contract stop work order in effect from 13 January to 27 March. Work accomplished included assembly of the first experimental fuel cell stack, design effort on lightweight fuel cell stacks, and fabrication of test apparatus. During the stop work order period, a redirection of the contract was accomplished, and work was resumed on 27 March. Under the redirected contract, the technical objectives remain unchanged. The technical plan has been modified to place more emphasis on fuel cell stack technology. The overall contract duration remains unchanged, but details of the schedule have been modified. (Author)
