STUDIES ON EXCITATION PARAMETERS.

Abstract

The effect of changes in arcing conditions on sensitivity and reproducibility were investigated. Results are reported for 13 elements in niobium oxide and 11 elements in molybdenum metal. The parameters studied included current, pressure, atmosphere composition, flowing gas, electrode shapes, electrode material and pyrolytic graphite. Both pyrolytic graphite electrode cups oriented in the A-B direction and regular graphite cups coated with pyrolytic graphite oriented in the C direction were investigated. Data was also obtained for a molybdenum trioxide matrix. (Author)
