SIGNAL PROCESSING STUDIES AND ANALYSIS. A STUDY OF ELECTROMAGNETIC INVERSE SCATTERING.

Abstract

This report contains information on the development of computer programs for the data reduction of short pulse backscatter returns taken from a model range. The ultimate goals are to develop data reduction and analysis techniques utilizing high range resolution backscatter returns from a monostatic radar. These techniques will be developed initially by utilizing high resolution backscatter data from the model range and ultimately applying them to actual data taken from a high resolution radar. A data format has been developed for processing this information in an SDS 930 computer. Raw data consisting of amplitude, phase and polarization of a backscattered signal will be recorded as a function of aspect angle. This information is processed by the computer and further analyzed to develop techniques for extracting size, shape and object motion. (Author)
