BROADBAND HIGH BURNOUT SOLID STATE INTEGRATED X-BAND LIMITER AND BALANCED MIXER.

Abstract

A broadband integrated Schottky diode balanced mixer and varactor limiter is being investigated. The target characteristics of the integrated mixer and low-loss broadband varactor limiter are that it will be capable of withstanding peak powers of 500 watts. The mixer will have a noise figure of 7.5 db with a 1.5 db IF. The bandwidth of this limiter-mixer will be 4 - 11 GHz. The CW power handling will be 5 watts. Initial models have been built. Some problems are being experienced with the insertion loss of the limiter at the high-frequency end and with a resonant problem in the mixer box.
