LONGITUDINAL STRENGTH OF A HIGH-SPEED DESTROYER USING THE STATIC BALANCE METHOD WITH AND WITHOUT THE SMITH CORRECTION.

Abstract

Longitudinal primary shear force and bending moment responses are presented and discussed for an extensive series of static balances on a destroyer in trochoidal waves. Responses are given for both conventional and Smith-corrected balances, and correlation is made on a nondimensional basis with experiments for other destroyer models. The computer program developed specifically for use in this report is documented in the appendix. (Author)
