RESEARCH ON NONRADIATIVE PROCESSES IN LASER MATERIALS.

Abstract

The objective of this program is to gain an understanding of nonradiative processes of laser materials. This involves the study of the interactions between laser ions, and those between the ion and the lattice vibrations. During this period the experimental investigation of the lanthanum halide lattice vibrations by means of Raman scattering was continued, using high sensitivity photon counting techniques. The polarized Stokes Raman spectra were taken, and the preliminary symmetry analyses of the vibrations are given. (Author)
